Our next door neighbors are an older couple in their early 80's, I'm guessing, that are just as nice as can be. Lois had mentioned a while back that she would love for R to come over to play since none of their grandkids live nearby. I didn't think too much of it, and then she came over on Tuesday and asked if he'd like to come for a visit on Wed. afternoon. I talked to R about it, and explained why this would be a nice deed for him to do, and he agreed to go if I went with him.
So, we headed over after lunch yesterday, and she was all ready for us! She had the basement all set up with puzzles and had all of her toys ready to go. We sat down to chat, and R got busy playing. They had a large collection of army men, soldiers, and "Indian" minifigures and he was in heaven. He spent the entire time arranging them and getting them ready for battle. After 30 min. I had to get home to relieve S of Thing 1 and Thing 2 so he could go to a meeting, but I offered to R that he could stay and play or head home with me. He asked to stay and play a bit longer! So he stayed for another hour and played on his own.
I know this simple act on R's part made Lois's day and let her be a grandma for a short time. I'm not sure if I would have been so gracious when I was R's age, and I was really proud of my Bub.
